Box office: 'Leo' edges closer to Rs. 250cr in India
Vijay's action-packed spectacle, Leo—released last Thursday (October 19)—has proved to be an unstoppable force at the box office. The film churned out an estimated Rs. 31.50cr (nett) in India on Tuesday (Day 6). While this marked a slight decline from the previous day's collection of Rs. 35.7cr, the film continues to impress with its strong performance. Here's the breakdown of collections on Day 6.
Why does this story matter?
Leo is the latest addition to director Lokesh Kanagaraj's expansive Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU). It follows in the footsteps of his previous two releases, the 2019 film Kaithi and the 2022 hit Vikram. What sets Leo apart is its unique connection to these films, forming the third installment in the LCU. Leo also marks the second collaboration between Vijay and Kanagaraj after Master (2021).
Day 6 report: 'Leo's total tally stands at Rs. 248.60cr
On Tuesday, Leo collected Rs. 31.5cr across all languages, bringing its domestic total to Rs. 248.6cr, as per early estimates shared by Sacnilk. The film's Day 6 occupancy rates were equally noteworthy, with Tamil theaters registering 65.79% occupancy, Telugu drawing in 48.40%, and the Hindi version capturing a respectable 20.13%. However, as the Dussehra holiday ends on Wednesday, the true test begins for Leo.
Vijay's 'Leo' surpassed 'Killers of the Flower Moon' collections
Leo has crossed the impressive milestone of Rs. 400cr in worldwide collections just five days after its release, per industry tracker ComScore. According to Variety, the film even outperformed Martin Scorsese's Killers of the Flower Moon, which features Leonardo DiCaprio, at the global box office. Leo raked in $48.5M, surpassing the $44M earned by Killers of the Flower Moon.
