Box office: Vijay-Mrunal's 'The Family Star' grows yet lags behind
What's the story
Vijay Deverakonda and Mrunal Thakur's latest offering, The Family Star, is making an all-out effort to maintain momentum at the box office.
Directed by Parasuram Petla, the movie debuted in both Tamil and Telugu languages last Friday, garnering a promising ₹5.75cr on its opening day.
However, the weekend witnessed a performance downturn.
By the fifth day, the earnings had risen to ₹2.4cr, marking a significant growth from the previous day's ₹1.3cr collection.
Context
Why does this story matter?
Despite facing initial hurdles due to negative online campaigns allegedly targeting Deverakonda, The Family Star managed to bounce back after the first three days.
The film's fan association and producers responded by filing a cybercrime complaint in Hyderabad against those responsible for the backlash.
This action seems to have paid off as the film's earnings have shown a steady increase.
Collections
'TFS's total collection stands at ₹16cr
Per Sacnilk, on Tuesday (Day 5), TFS amassed an additional ₹2.4cr, bringing its total domestic collection to ₹16cr.
Notably, it achieved an overall 24.77% Telugu occupancy on Tuesday, with the highest turnout observed during the evening showing (30.41%).
However, its performance in Tamil markets remained lackluster, with an overall 15.45% occupancy rate.
Looking ahead, the film will face stiff competition from the pan-India release of Bade Miyan Chote Miyan—scheduled for Thursday.
