'Bachchhan Paandey' vs 'The Kashmir Files': What's the box-office update?
Led by Akshay Kumar, Bachchhan Paandey released on March 18 amid huge expectations. But, despite being a solo release on Holi, the action comedy could not really set the cash registers on fire. This is in stark contrast to what The Kashmir Files is earning. Directed by Vivek Agnihotri, the historical film is slowly inching toward Rs. 200cr, which has shocked everyone. Let's discuss.
Why does this story matter?
It needs to be noted that during a promotional event for Bachchhan Paandey, Kumar had said that the film might take a hit at the box office because of RRR, releasing on March 25. He had added that the business might "go down by 30-40%." However, even before the release of RRR, Bachchhan Paandey is facing a tough fight, courtesy The Kashmir Files.
This is how much 'Bachchhan Paandey' has earned till now
Till Wednesday, Bachchhan Paandey has collected Rs. 44 crore (roughly) in India and experts predict that if the film stays above Rs. 3 crore on Wednesday and Thursday, the Bollywood actioner might earn Rs. 50cr in the first week of its release. This is still not an impressive income, given that it has an ensemble cast and was promoted heavily by all the actors.
'The Kashmir Files' is seeing unprecedented demand
Now, let's discuss the mammoth box office earnings of The Kashmir Files. Till Wednesday, the drama collected a good Rs. 190 crore after 12 days of its release. The film had hit the cinema halls on March 11 and is still witnessing exceptional reception from all. Reports say that it even ate up screen count of Bachchhan Paandey and also affected Gangubai Kathiawadi's business.
