Did Rakhi Sawant really get married? She opens up
Rakhi Sawant rubbished news reports of her hush-hush wedding and clarified that she isn't going to marry before 2020. Her statement came after it was reported that she had secretly married an NRI in Mumbai on July 28 (yesterday), which was attended by only 4-5 people. Clearing the air, she told SpotboyE, "I was just doing a bridal shoot in JW Marriott, last night."
She say she plans to get married in 2020
"It is not true that I have married. There were 2-3 guys involved in the shoot along with me, one of them was an NRI. But if and when I marry, which I have planned for 2020, I will announce it with fanfare," Rakhi said.
Why are actors written about so lightly, asks Rakhi
Interestingly, Rakhi's wedding rumors got rife after she flaunted her mehendi in an Instagram video lately. Miffed with reports, she questioned media as to "why are the actors written about so lightly". "If an actress has mehendi on her hands or a sindoor, she's assumed to be married. If an actress visits a hospital, tongues start wagging that she's planning a baby," she noted.
Earlier, Rakhi had announced her wedding to Deepak Kalal
Meanwhile, this isn't the first time that Rakhi's wedding grabbed headlines. Earlier, the Main Hoon Na actress had announced that she was planning to get married to Internet celebrity Deepak Kalal. The couple hosted a press conference sharing details about the nuptials. However, it turned out to be a mere publicity gimmick by both as the wedding was called off at the last minute.
This would have been the second marriage for Rakhi
If Rakhi at all gets married, that would be her second outing. To jog your memory, the 40-year-old had married a guy named Ashraf from Andheri in 2004 soon after the success of her popular dance number, Pardesiya, according to a TOI report. Reportedly, Ashraf had financed the video. However, the marriage lasted barely for two-three months and Ashraf was arrested for fraud.
Remember when Rakhi got engaged to Elesh Parujanwala on TV?
This apart, Rakhi had also organized Rakhi Ka Swayamvar in 2009 to find herself a suitable groom. In fact, she also got engaged to an NRI named Elesh Parujanwala on national television, only to part ways a year later. Talking about this break-up, Rakhi asserted, "His real aim was to find a foothold in the film industry. For that, he wanted to use me."
"It was a way to change her image in media"
On the other hand, Elesh said he was happy about the split, and added that their engagement was a big facade. "It was an easy way to perhaps change her image in the media through Swayamwar and project her as a bharatiya-nari," Elesh told Tellychakkar.
