Navratri 2019: Five Bollywood actresses who love celebrating Durga Puja
The 9-day Navratri festivities have almost come to an end. The festival, also popular as Durga Puja, especially in Bengal, is celebrated with much zeal and warmth not only by people across the country, but also by celebrities from the film fraternity. From Jaya Bachchan to Sushmita Sen, here are five Bollywood celebrities who celebrate Durga puja each year without fail.
Jaya Bachchan
Mrs. Bachchan popularly celebrates Durga Puja with her family every year. In fact, Jaya was even born in a Bengali family. Her father Taroon Kumar Bhaduri was a famous author and poet, best known for writing Obhishopto Chambol (Cursed Chambal). Jaya's Bengali roots are also evident in the fact that she has acted in several Bengali films, including Satyajit Ray's Mahanagar and Dhanyee Meye.
Sushmita Sen
The former Miss Universe also loves celebrating Durga Puja. Last year, she posted pictures of herself celebrating the festival, along with her two daughters and model boyfriend Rohman Shawl. Talking of her work life, Sen has acted in several Hindi and other language films, including the likes of Sirf Tum (1999), Biwi No.1 (1999), Main Hoon Na (2004) and Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya? (2005).
Mouni Roy
The Bengali beauty who made her way into films from television, is also famous for regularly making appearances at Durga puja pandals. On the work front, she was last seen in Romeo Akbar Walter, opposite John Abraham. Moreover, she currently has many films in the pipeline. These include Rajkummar Rao-starrer Made in China, a Gulshan Kumar-biopic Mogul and Ayan Mujherji-directorial Brahmastra.
Rani Mukerji and Kajol
Rani Mukerji: Mukerji was recently clicked at a Durga puja pandal with brother Ayan Mukherji and family. On the silver screen, Rani will soon return with Gopi Puthran-directorial Mardaani 2. Kajol: Last but not least, Kajol is annually spotted attending Durga puja with her mother Tanuja and sister Tanishaa Mukherji. Separately, she was last seen in Pradeep Sarkar's Helicopter Eela.
