'Always wanted to work with Suriya': Bobby talks about 'Kanguva'
Bobby Deol, who has been enjoying a career resurgence since the COVID-19 lockdown, is now venturing into South Indian cinema. He is set to appear in upcoming Tamil and Telugu films like Suriya's Kanguva and Nandamuri Balakrishna's NBK 109. In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama, Deol discussed his experiences working on these projects and his admiration for his co-star Suriya.
Deol signed 'Kanguva' before 'Animal'
Deol revealed that he had signed Kanguva even before Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Animal, which stars Ranbir Kapoor. "I always wanted to work with Suriya. He is a great actor, and I was excited about being offered Kanguva," Deol said. Despite his unfamiliarity with the Tamil film industry, Deol was full of praise for Kanguva's director Siva, describing him as "a great filmmaker and such a gentle soul."
'Kanguva' role required significant physical preparation
Deol also shared details about his transformation into Udhiran, the primary antagonist in Kanguva. This required substantial physical preparation, including wearing a hairpiece, applying scars, and using custom-made contact lenses. "We had to shoot in dust and smoke," Deol recalled. "Many think filmmaking is an easy process, but it is clearly something else altogether... but it is so much fun because it satisfies you creatively."
'Kanguva' to release globally on October 10
Kanguva, produced by Studio Green, is set to be released on a massive scale worldwide on October 10, 2024. The film has been signed up with top distribution houses for its global release. This marks a significant milestone in Deol's career as he continues to explore new avenues in the Indian film industry.
