BO Day 14: SS Rajamouli-directed 'RRR' collects Rs. 1000cr worldwide
SS Rajamouli proved once again with RRR why he's called a "maverick" filmmaker. Opening to a thunderous response (over Rs. 250cr), the period film has continued to maintain its dominance. And, this streak remains unbeaten on Day 14 (April 7), as people are thronging the theaters in big numbers even on weekdays. According to RRR team, the film has already collected Rs. 1000cr (worldwide)!
Why does this story matter?
In production for a long time, RRR faced multiple delays before finally premiering in March. Apart from Rajamouli's impact, the film had Ram Charan, Jr. NTR, Alia Bhatt, and Ajay Devgn leading the star cast. And, the final product has churned great results as were expected. Moreover, there was no notable release with/immediately after RRR, facilitating its secured long run.
How much has the Hindi version earned till now?
The epic actioner has reportedly grossed Rs. 7-10cr on Thursday. As per trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the total collection of the Hindi version of the film was Rs. 203.59cr in India on Thursday, with an earning of Rs. 5.50cr made on Wednesday. RRR (Hindi) crossing the Rs. 200cr makes it the second Hindi-language movie to achieve this feat post the COVID-19 pandemic.
Let's know of its worldwide collection
Coming to the worldwide numbers, RRR has reportedly entered the humongous Rs. 1,000cr club, and to celebrate this feat, the film's producer Dr. Jayantilal Gada of Pen Studios hosted a party in Mumbai on Wednesday evening. However, film industry tracker Manobala Vijayabalan said the pan-Indian project collected Rs. 15.25cr on Day 13, thereby taking the global box office collection to Rs. 954.66cr.
Gada's party was attended by KJo, Aamir Khan
Given the next big releases aren't coming before April 13 (Beast), and April 14 (KGF: Chapter 2), the nearly competition-less run of RRR is likely to continue till then. Separately, Gada's party was attended by Karan Johar and Aamir Khan apart from Rajamouli, Charan, and NTR. At the bash, Johar called Rajamouli a "visionary" and that he is "too good to be true."
