Irrfan Khan starrer 'Blackmail' has taken a below average opening at the box office.
The black comedy-drama managed a meager Rs. 2.81 crore on day 1.
However, the film has been getting positive response from most of the critics and is expected to grow over the weekend.
This has been the trajectory of all Irrfan films in the recent past.

'Blackmail' is Irrfan's first release after he announced his illness
Directed by Abhinay Deo of 'Delhi Belly' fame, 'Blackmail' also stars Kirti Kulhari, Arunoday Singh, Divya Dutta, Pradhuman Singh.
The makers wanted to postpone its release pertaining to Irrfan's illness but he encouraged them to not delay the film.
The actor is suffering from Neuroendocrine Tumour and is currently in the United Kingdom for treatment.
