'Black Panther' sets record; 'Aiyaary' becomes Sidharth's lowest opener
What's the story
This was one of those Fridays when Bollywood and Hollywood were pitted against each other at the domestic box office, with Sidharth Malhotra and Manoj Bajpayee's 'Aiyaary' releasing alongside Marvel's first black standalone superhero flick 'Black Panther.'
As it happened, 'Black Panther' fetched better numbers on Day 1 upsetting the Neeraj Pandey film.
A remarkable feat
Highest opening for a standalone superhero debut film in India
'Black Panther' has surpassed 'Deadpool' (Rs. 3.72 crore), 'Doctor Strange' (Rs. 2.60 crore) and 'Wonder Woman' (Rs. 2.07 crore) to become the highest opening standalone superhero debut film in India.
This goes on to show the popularity of the black superhero amongst the desi audience.

Tough times
Sidharth's dry run continues
The 'Student Of The Year' actor recorded his lowest opening till date with 'Aiyaary.' It looks like that the mixed reviews from the critics took a toll on the first day numbers of the film.
Sidharth's last two films, 'Ittefaq', and 'A Gentleman', opened at Rs. 4.05 crore and Rs. 4.04 crore respectively.
His last box office success was 'Kapoor and Sons.'
