Biplab Deb takes a U-turn on Diana Hayden remark
After his outrageous remark on former Miss World and ex 'Bigg Boss' contestant Diana Hayden kicked up a storm, Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb said he did not intend to hurt anyone's sentiments. "I regret this, I respect all women as my mother," he told mediapersons. Deb had questioned the rationale behind Hayden's win in 1997.
Here's what Deb said to justify his comment
"I was only talking about how the handlooms of the state could be marketed well. I did not mean to offend anybody. If anybody is hurt or feeling defamed, I regret this. I respect all women as my mother," he said.
Hayden had given a befitting reply to the CM
Reacting to Deb's comments, Hayden had said, "I am fighting this brown skin bias since my childhood. I am a proud brown skinned Indian. Shame on him for making such comments. I am hurt. He's in a prominent position and should be careful about what he says." Deb had stated that Hayden is not Indian enough to have won the beauty pageant.
