Play as Billie Eilish on Fortnite Festival from today
The popular online video game, Fortnite, has announced its latest musical partnership with Grammy-award-winning artist, Billie Eilish. Starting on Tuesday, fans will have the opportunity to play as Eilish, complete with her signature neon green hair. The specifics of this collaboration are yet to be disclosed but it's confirmed that Eilish will be the featured artist for the upcoming season of Fortnite Festival.
Why does this story matter?
Epic Games launched Fortnite Festival as an inside game on Fortnite in December last year. The musical game gave players the chance to hit the correct beat to songs as the notes flowed down a lane. Players can use their controllers or mouse to hit the beat at the right time. Developed by the studio Harmonix, Fortnite Festival even offers players the chance to select avatars to emote during certain sections of the songs.
Eilish's character skin will be available for purchase
Eilish's character skin will be available for purchase in the in-game store, possibly even with a Lego variant. Her music is also expected to be playable during the Fortnite Festival, an immersive in-game experience similar to the music video game Rock Band. This collaboration continues Fortnite's trend of integrating high-profile celebrities into its gameplay, following partnerships with stars like Lady Gaga, Ariana Grande, and Eminem.
Eilish's Fortnite appearance will follow the game's Coachella event
Currently, Fortnite is in the middle of a Greek mythology-themed season that began in March and includes a crossover with the popular Avatar: The Last Airbender. However, from Tuesday onwards, players can anticipate seeing Eilish sporting a Victory Crown in Fortnite's virtual universe. This follows the game's annual partnership event with Coachella where special astronaut costumes were made available in the store along with cosmetic bundles for Coachella performers like J Balvin.
