Thief nabbed after stealing cash, jewels from filmmaker Joshiy's home
Muhammad Irshad, a resident of Bihar, was recently apprehended in Udupi, Karnataka. He is charged with burglarizing the residence of acclaimed Malayalam film director Joshiy in Kochi. The stolen items, including cash and jewelry, are reportedly estimated to be worth over ₹1cr. Irshad was apprehended while attempting to flee the scene. Details of the burglary at Joshiy's residence
The burglary occurred at Joshiy's home in Panampilly Nagar, Kochi, on Saturday night. According to PTI, the CCTV footage revealed that the thief gained entry through the kitchen around 01:30am while Joshiy and his family were inside. The stolen valuables included diamond rings, earrings, gold chains, and other items securely stored in a second-floor cupboard. Police found that the suspect had fled in a car registered in Maharashtra.

Following Irshad's arrest, police retrieved gold and diamond jewelry from his vehicle. There are indications that local accomplices may have aided him in executing the burglary. A police team is currently en route to Udupi to initiate legal proceedings against Irshad.
