'Bigg Boss OTT' Season 3 postponed indefinitely
The much-anticipated third season of Bigg Boss OTT has been indefinitely postponed, according to a report. Bigg Boss broadcast channel Colors TV and its OTT house Jio Cinema have decided not to roll out the new season this year, according to the Indian Express. The decision is reportedly due to audience fatigue, following the conclusion of Bigg Boss 17 in January 2024 with Munawar Faruqui emerging as the champion.
Why does this story matter?
Bigg Boss, one of India's most popular reality shows, has enjoyed 17 successful seasons. In 2021, the show expanded its reach by launching a digital version, Bigg Boss OTT. The first season was hosted by Karan Johar and saw reality TV star Divya Agarwal take home the trophy. The second season aired last year with Salman Khan as host and YouTuber Elvish Yadav winning the crown.
Future of 'Bigg Boss OTT' still uncertain
While earlier reports suggested the third part could come as early as May, the latest report suggests that discussions about future seasons of Bigg Boss OTT are still in their early stages. There has been no official word from production house Banijay Asia, Colors TV, or Jio Cinemas regarding the discontinuation of Bigg Boss OTT 3. The previous season featured contestants like Pooja Bhatt, Jiya Shankar, Manisha Rani, Yadav, and Abhishek Malhan who gained significant popularity.
Speculations surrounding 'Bigg Boss OTT' Season 3 contestants
Although we would not see a third season this year most likely, rumors are rife about potential contestants. Names like Sheezan Khan, Arhaan Behll, Shehzada Dhami, Pratiksha Honmukhe, Dalljiet Kaur, Maxtern, Sriram Chandra, and Dhanashree Verma have been mentioned. However, no official announcements have been made regarding the contestants for the upcoming season.
Meanwhile, 'Bigg Boss 18' to return by year-end
If makers actually end up halting the OTT version to keep viewers from getting saturated and provide more time between the OTT and TV variants, then the next Bigg Boss Hindi will surely keep the audience on their toes. Reports say Bigg Boss 18 will air by the end of this year, closely following the 17th chapter's air schedule. While no name has been confirmed, celebrities like Awez Darbar and Faisal Khan might be approached for the Khan-hosted reality show.
