August 2 is my 2nd birthday: Amitabh Bachchan
Amitabh Bachchan, the legendary star, took to Twitter to express gratitude to fans who wished him on his 'second birthday' or 'rebirth day'. August 2 marks the day the actor came out of a comatose in 1982, after suffering an accident on 'Coolie' sets. Big B graciously acknowledged the wishes saying that it was their prayers that saved his life.

'Coolie' and the accident that the nation mourned
Bachchan went into a comatose after a fight sequence went wrong on the sets of 'Coolie'. While shooting the scene with Puneet Issar at the Bangalore University campus, he took a punch but mistimed his jump on the table. As a result, the corner hit his abdominal-region causing internal bleeding. The whole nation prayed for him, and his recovery after intensive surgeries was miraculous.
There's a long history of events, says Big B
Bachchan on his blog went on to speak about August 2. However, he was unwilling to describe the accident in detail, choosing instead to focus on the prayers and wishes that got him better. But, as fans, we'd sure love to know more about the 'Coolie' accident, behind which he hints lies a long history of events.
One day, Big B will speak about the accident
Bachchan wrote, "There is a long history to the events of those times..one that shall not be able to be narrated here..though I do make insincere promises that someday they shall be spoken of."
Like a phoenix, legends are re-born
Legends like him certainly deserve a second chance; notably after the 'Coolie' accident the actor had gone into a semi-retirement state. However, he soon returned to films and eventually started gaining commercial success again. In his third innings, we saw him return to prominence with box-office hit 'Mohabbatein' and the likes. The megastar has gone from strength to strength ever since.
