Bhuvan Bam trademarks his character Titu Mama to combat plagiarism
Popular content creator and actor Bhuvan Bam has trademarked Titu Mama, a popular character from his hugely successful BB Ki Vines series. This marks the first step in his vision to secure trademarks for all characters within the BB Ki Vines universe. "This universe is like the Avengers for me. This trademark is to establish that this property belongs to me now," Bam reportedly told Hindustan Times.
Bam's Titu Mama has grown by leaps and bounds
Bam has not only portrayed Titu Mama in BB Ki Vines but also voiced the character in the recent Hindi adaptation of Takeshi's Castle and hosted a chat show called Titu Talks. With the new trademark, Bam now has the authority to conduct live events while essaying this character. "There is a lot of chance for plagiarism with such characters like I have received calls saying people loved Titu Mama's performance in Bhopal whereas I have never performed in Bhopal."
Bam's trademark journey and future plans
Bam applied for the trademark in July 2023, receiving approval last month. He has also filed for trademarks for two more characters - Sameer and Bablu Ji. "You never know where your content is being circulated and how people are using it." "So, it's important to get your Intellectual Property registered. Unless you have it, you don't have any proof to show that it belongs to you. It makes sure that no one is misled," he added.
Bam explores AI technology for Titu Mama
Bam disclosed plans to develop Artificial Intelligence (AI) around Titu Mama's voice, now that he has secured the trademark. He referenced Scarlett Johansson's recent experience of her voice being used without her consent through AI technology. "Now that I have this trademark, I will try my best to create AI around Titu Mama's voice," he stated, adding that the trademark ensures exclusivity in this endeavor. Despite his interest in AI, Bam believes artists' ability to express emotions remains irreplaceable.
