'Bheemla Nayak': What we know of Pawan Kalyan-Rana Daggubati's film?
Bheemla Nayak releases on February 25 and before that, makers dropped its trailer on Monday late evening. A remake of Malayalam film Ayyappanum Koshiyum (AK), Bheemla Nayak, directed by Saagar K Chandra, stars Pawan Kalyan and Rana Daggubati. Kalyan plays Biju Menon's role, while Prithviraj Sukumaran's part will be essayed by Daggubati. Ahead of its release, here's a round-up of Bheemla Nayak.
Trailer study: Both films have similarities, differences
After watching the trailers of AK and Bheemla Nayak, we can conclude that makers of the latter have retained the original's tone, but have given their own spin nonetheless. Like, moments when Bheemla Nayak (Kalyan) single-handedly fights off goons with a lathi remain unchanged. However, in AK, Menon was showed as a polite cop, but Bheemla Nayak's trailer introduced Kalyan as his stylish counterpart.
Know more about the characters of Kalyan, Daggubati
The differences between Nayak and Ayyappan Nayar (Menon) don't end there. Makers have also put in an apparent romantic angle and a playful streak for Kalyan's character, which were missing for Nayar. As for Daggubati's role as Daniel Shekar, the characterization looks like a frame-to-frame recreation of Koshi Kuriyan, played by Sukumaran. Everything, starting from costume to body language, Daggubati reminds us of Sukumaran.
'Bheemla Nayak' faces clash at box office
Meanwhile, the OTT rights to Bheemla Nayak, a revenge drama, have reportedly been bagged by Disney+ Hotstar. At the box office, it faces stiff competition, as another Telugu film Ghani and Telugu dubbed version of Bollywood film Gangubai Kathiawadi are also releasing on February 25. A day before, Tamil film Valimai will hit theaters, along with its other dubbed versions, including Telugu.
What else do we know of 'Bheemla Nayak'?
Besides the aforementioned actors, Bheemla Nayak also has Nithya Menen and Samyuktha Menon as the leading ladies, while Murali Sharma and Samuthirakani will be seen playing pivotal roles. Last week, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) gave it a UA certificate. Separately, Ayyappanum Koshiyum is also getting a Hindi remake, which will star John Abraham and Arjun Kapoor. Jagan Shakti will direct it.
