Bhansali's 'Love & War' bags record deals: ₹130cr for streaming
Sanjay Leela Bhansali's upcoming movie Love & War has reportedly secured record-breaking deals for its streaming and music rights. The epic film, featuring Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal in lead roles, is set to start production next month. This will be Bhansali's first solo production venture following the phenomenal success of his web series Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar on Netflix.
Netflix acquired 'Love & War' streaming rights: Report
According to a Mid-day report, industry insiders have disclosed that Netflix has agreed to a base price of ₹130 crore for the streaming rights of Love & War. This figure is likely to rise depending on the film's box office success. This deal follows Bhansali's recent triumph with his debut web series Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar, which premiered on the same platform.
Bhansali secures music rights deal with Saregama
In addition to the streaming deal, Bhansali has also secured a lucrative music rights agreement with Saregama for an estimated ₹35 crore. This deal underscores the significance of music in Bhansali's films, which often feature elaborate song and dance sequences. The director is also reportedly in advanced talks with a leading television network for the satellite rights, valued at around ₹50 crore.
'Love & War' production budget and actor remuneration details
The production budget for Love & War is estimated to be around ₹200 crore, excluding the lead actors' fees. Interestingly, Kapoor, Bhatt, and Kaushal have reportedly chosen back-end deals with Bhansali, which means their remuneration will be linked to the film's box office performance. Kapoor is said to have secured a significant portion of the theatrical revenue. The project was officially announced earlier in January and it is slated to release in theaters on Christmas 2025.
