In the past decade, the OTT platforms have presented us with a plethora of series and mini-series, especially since the pandemic when the world was stuck inside their homes and OTT or television programs were the only media of entertainment. In case you have missed any, we have brought to you the top five shows as per IMDb ratings.
'Chernobyl' (2019)- 9.3/10
With 10 Primetime Emmy Awards, the historical drama miniseries Chernobyl, created by Craig Mazin, is the highest-rated television series in the last 10 years. It's based on the true event that took place in April 1986 at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant and what followed. The explosion at the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics's plant became one of the biggest man-made catastrophes.
'Better Call Saul' (2015-2022)- 9/10
Better Call Saul, the spin-off series of the iconic television show Breaking Bad, received as many as 53 Primetime Emmy nominations. It follows Jimmy McGill, a criminal defense attorney, as he faces challenges before his fateful encounter with the iconic Breaking Bad leads, Jesse Pinkman and Walter White. With its meticulous character development and detailed storytelling, the Breaking Bad fans couldn't ask for more.
'True Detective' (2014- )- 8.9/10
Exploring complex mysteries and delving into the darkest corners of human nature, True Detective is an anthology crime drama series created by Nic Pizzolatto. Each episode is structured as an independent narrative and features a new ensemble cast. Through police investigations, it uncovers the depths of crime, morality, and obsession both the professional and personal secrets of everybody involved in and outside the law.
'Succession' (2018-2023)- 8.9/10
One of the most praised and loved shows in recent times, the Primetime Emmy Award-winning show Succession is a rollercoaster of power struggles, betrayal, and family dynamics. With almost no likable characters, it delves into the cutthroat world of the ultra-rich Roy family, owners of one of the world's biggest media conglomerates, and unfolds as the family members vie for control of their empire.
'Fargo' (2014- )- 8.9/10
With three Golden Globe Awards, Noah Hawley's black comedy crime drama series Fargo is inspired by the Coen Brothers's namesake film. Weaving darkly comedic tales of crime and chaos in Minnesota and Fargo, North Dakota, the series features standalone seasons with new cast and unique characters and stories connected by the similar theme of ordinary lives entangled in extraordinary situations.
