Actor Ben Affleck is reportedly feeling trapped following his divorce from singer Jennifer Lopez, due to the absence of a prenuptial agreement. According to sources, Affleck is under pressure to maintain a civil relationship with Lopez during the divorce proceedings. The lack of legal protection could potentially complicate matters for the former couple.
Affleck 'basically' at Lopez's mercy
A source told OK! Magazine that the divorce proceedings will depend on how well Affleck and Lopez can cooperate. "Because there's no prenup, the divorce, and how smoothly it goes, is going to depend on them playing nice. Which means Ben's got no choice but to try and be as civilized with J. Lo as possible." They added that Affleck is "basically" at Lopez's "mercy" and she can "sink her fangs in and make it all that much more miserable."
Affleck's social life affected by divorce
The source also revealed that Affleck's social life has been impacted by the divorce and he can't "have fun" as "he can't risk p***ing J.Lo off." Per the insider, one of Affleck's gripes was "how controlling she was, so you can just imagine how upsetting it is for him that she's essentially still controlling him." "He's got so many hot women blowing up his phone but he's gun shy because he can't risk upsetting J.Lo," the source said.
Lopez filed for divorce citing 'irreconcilable differences'
The source added that Affleck fears Lopez will "drag" the process if he does anything to "trigger her" and hence, he is "pretty trapped." Lopez filed for divorce from Affleck on August 20, citing "irreconcilable differences" as the reason. The couple had spent the summer apart, with no joint appearances even on special occasions such as the Fourth of July, Lopez's 55th birthday, or their second wedding anniversary. They had gotten married in July 2022.
