Batman secures Hollywood Walk of Fame Star—A first for superheroes!
Batman fans rejoice! The iconic DC Comics superhero is set to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The character will be honored with the 2,790th star at a ceremony later this month. This achievement makes Batman the first superhero character to be recognized in this way. Additionally, Batman will also be awarded a Guinness World Records title for this unique accomplishment.
Batman to be awarded star on September 26
Per the official statement, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce will honor Batman with the star at a ceremony on September 26. The event is set to begin at 11:30am PT. DC's president, publisher, and chief creative officer, Jim Lee, along with senior vice president and general manager Anne DePies will be present at the ceremony. Interestingly, Batman will receive the star in character costume.
Batman to be recognized by Guinness World Records
In addition to the star, Batman will also be awarded a Guinness World Records title for being the first superhero to receive this incredible honor. The Batman franchise has previously been recognized by Guinness World Records for "Detective Comics" as the longest-running comic book, continuously published since 1938. In 2012, Batman was named the most adapted comic book character in live-action movies. The film franchise has earned over $6.8B worldwide—ranking as the 10th highest-grossing film franchise in history.
Fan event at Funko Hollywood store planned
The ceremony will be followed by a fan event at the Funko Hollywood store. The Warner Bros. Archives will set up a curated pop-up museum featuring props and costumes from Batman's history in film and TV. Jim Lee is also scheduled to participate in an exclusive one-hour meet and greet and signing for Batman fans at the store. Wristbands for the Lee signing will be given to the first 100 fans who purchase a Batman product at the Funko store.
