Actor Amit Mistry dies due to heart attack at 47
Bandish Bandits actor Amit Mistry died due to cardiac arrest today. He was 47. The news was confirmed by his manager Maharshi Desai, who said Mistry's family didn't even get the time to take him to a hospital. "He was well and didn't complain of any issue. Post breakfast he felt an ache in his heart and it was a heart attack," narrated Desai.
'His family couldn't even take him to the hospital'
"[Mistry] was at his home only. I am in complete shock myself. His family couldn't even take him to the hospital. It is a big loss for the entertainment industry to lose an actor like him and I will miss working with him," Desai shared.
Film fraternity was taken aback at the sudden loss
As soon as the news broke out, many industry colleagues grieved the loss on social media. Actress Kubbra Sait wrote, "You'll be missed on earth," while actor-singer Swanand Kirkire could not believe the news. He tweeted: "Amit Mistry ? No ...this is unbelievable. He was an amazing Actor and a real happy soul (sic)." Vir Das and Dilip Joshi also mourned his demise.
'In every script, we subconsciously wrote a part for him'
Director duo Raj-DK penned an emotional note for him. "We always used to boast that Amit was our discovery....in every script of ours, we subconsciously wrote a part for him," they said. A Gentleman directors added that Mistry was also signed in for their ongoing series, shooting of which was halted due to the pandemic. "The times are so excruciatingly bad," they observed.

Mistry was to play Prakhaand Pandit in Raj-DK's ongoing series
Notably, Mistry has extensively worked with Raj and DK, namely as Kuber in 99, Tipu in Shor In The City, Jignesh in A Gentleman, and Prakhaand Pandit in the current series. "Every time we write a script, he will be missed," they noted. He also appeared in the sitcom Saat Phero Ki Hera Pherie, comedy show Maddam Sir, alongside movies like Kya Kehna (2000).
Entertainment industry has been grappling with deaths in recent times
Mistry's sudden and untimely demise adds up to the string of deaths the entertainment industry has witnessed in recent times. Yesterday night, popular '90s composer Shravan Rathod passed away due to COVID-19 complications. Tamil actor Vivekh's death due to a massive heart attack also left the industry shell-shocked. Earlier this week, Bollywood also mourned the loss of renowned qawwali singer, Farid Sabri.
