'Bagheera' box office collection: Prabhu Deva's film scores decently
Tamil filmmaker Adhik Ravichandran is back with another adult comedy film, titled Bagheera. Ravichandran's latest offering stars actor-dancer Prabhu Deva in the lead role alongside seven female actors. The film hit the cinema halls on Friday (March 3). Despite not-so-good reviews from the critics, the movie has done fairly decent business at the ticket window on the opening day.
Why does this story matter?
Bagheera is the third directorial project by Ravichandran after his controversial debut film Trisha Illana Nayanthara and Anbanavan Asaradhavan Adangadhavan also known as AAA. Ravichandran, who also wrote Dabangg 3 (Tamil), is known for making adult comedies with glamourous heroines. With Bagheera, he has stuck with the same script ideology which seems to have worked for him in terms of numbers.
'Bagheera' has raked in 10% of its budget
Made on a budget of Rs. 10 crore, the initial box office numbers suggest that Bagheera was able to rake in Rs. 1 crore on the opening day, reportedly. While it did fare decently on Friday, the movie will still have to gain numbers over the weekend. It will also have to clear the dreading Monday test by earning well on its first weekday.
'Bagheera' to be Deva's last 'A' certified film
In a recent interview, the film's leading actor, Deva, said that Bagheera will be his last 'A' certified project. Ravichandran is known for making films that cater to audiences of over 18 years, collaborated with Deva, and cast him opposite seven female leads. It marks Ravichandran and Deva's second work collaboration after Dabangg 3 which was directed by the latter.
