BAFTA 2025: Adrien Brody wins Best Actor for 'The Brutalist'
What's the story
Continuing his winning streak in award shows, Adrien Brody won Best Leading Actor at the 2025 British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) Awards on Sunday night for the American epic, The Brutalist.
In the film, Brody portrays a Hungarian-Jewish Holocaust survivor who immigrates to the US and faces challenges in pursuing the American Dream until a wealthy client transforms his life.
The film is directed by Brady Corbet.

During his acceptance speech, the 51-year-old American actor said, "My goodness, thank you all. Where do I begin? I am so grateful and I want to thank this wonderful institution for not only honoring me but everyone here tonight who has done such great work and for acknowledging all of this hard work."
He was up against Timothée Chalamet (A Complete Unknown), Colman Domingo (Sing Sing), Ralph Fiennes (Conclave), Hugh Grant (Heretic), and Sebastian Stan (The Apprentice).

'The Brutalist' had 9 BAFTA nominations
According to Variety, The Brutalist bagged a whopping nine nominations at the BAFTA Awards 2025.
This placed the film ahead of other contenders like Anora, Dune: Part Two, and Wicked which bagged seven nominations each.
In addition to Best Leading Actor, the film also won awards for Best Director, Best Cinematography, and Best Original Score. However, it lost the Best Film award to Conclave.
