Box office: 'Bade Miyan Chote Miyan' is nearing its end
For over a month now, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan—featuring Akshay Kumar, and Tiger Shroff—has been running in theaters. Despite an impressive first-week haul of ₹49.9cr, the film has been grappling with poor performance ever since. The main stumbling block? It's still struggling to cross the ₹65cr mark even after 31 days. This underperformance comes in the wake of recent career setbacks for lead actors Kumar and Shroff.
Film's earnings showed a steady decline post release
After earning ₹49.9cr in its extended first week, BMCM saw a significant drop in the second week with collections falling to ₹8.6cr. The third week brought further decline, with earnings plummeting to just ₹3.9cr, and the fourth week failed to cross even the ₹1cr mark for a single day, including the weekend, collecting only ₹2.35cr. The lackluster performance of Ali Abbas Zafar's film comes as a surprise, especially considering its staggering reported budget of ₹350cr.
Fifth weekend saw a roller coaster of collections
As Bade Miyan Chote Miyan entered its fifth weekend, it experienced a fluctuating collection pattern. On Friday, the film's earnings dropped by 80% to just ₹5 lakh from Thursday's ₹25 lakh. However, Saturday witnessed a significant jump in collections by 160%, bringing in ₹13 lakh as per early estimates by Sacnilk. Now, the film's total domestic revenue stands at ₹64.93cr with an overall 7.28% occupancy rate recorded on Saturday.
Lead actors face recent career setbacks
The recent box office performance of lead actors Kumar and Shroff has been less than stellar, with consecutive underperforming films like Mission Raniganj (Kumar) and Ganpath (Shroff). Despite these setbacks, Kumar has multiple films in the pipeline including Housefull 5, Welcome to the Jungle, Sky Force, and The Untold Story of C Sankaran Nair. They both are also a part of Singham Again.
