'Baahubali 2' set for China release. Will it surpass 'Dangal'?
China has now been established as a lucrative market for Indian films. 2018 has already seen 'Secret Superstar', 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan', 'Hindi Medium' fetching excellent numbers in the neighboring country. And now, 'Baahubali 2' is almost ready to take the Chinese box office by storm. The Prabhas starrer is releasing in China on May 4 and is expected to give a stiff competition to 'Dangal'.
Can 'Baahubali 2' dethrone 'Dangal' as India's highest-grossing film ever?
Aamir Khan's 'Dangal', on the back of its tremendous run in China, went on to become India's highest-grossing film ever. It raked in Rs. 2,025 crore at the worldwide box office, with more than Rs. 1,272 crore coming from China. On the other hand, 'Baahubali 2' has earned over Rs. 1,700 crore and will challenge 'Dangal' upon its China release.
'Baahubali: The Beginning' was also a success story in China
The first installment, 'Baahubali: The Beginning', did a humongous business of approx Rs. 802 crore in the neighboring country. Meanwhile, 'Baahubali 2' had also emerged a winner in Russia and Japan.
