'Vampires of Vijay Nagar's plot hints at time travel!
The much-anticipated horror-comedy Vampires of Vijay Nagar, starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna, is all set to commence shooting in Mumbai in October. According to a Mid-Day report, director Aditya Sarpotdar will start filming in the first week of October, with the lead actors joining by the third week. The film's concept was introduced in the final scenes of Stree 2.
Film to be set in two different eras
Vampires of Vijay Nagar is set against two distinct backdrops - the present day in a small North Indian town, and the ancient city of Vijayanagara. The first schedule will focus on the contemporary setting. "The first schedule will kick off with a night shift. The production team will design a set reflecting a North Indian town," a source told Mid-Day.
Khurrana-Mandanna's characters and looks
Khurrana's character is an "adventure-loving sports enthusiast." Mandanna, on the other hand, has a more complex role and will sport a unique look. "Their look tests will take place in the first week of September," the source added. The history of Vijayanagara, which was the capital of the prosperous Vijayanagara Empire in the 14th century, will likely play a significant role in the story. Notably, Stree, Stree 2, Bhediya, Munjya, and VOVN are part of Dinesh Vijan's horror-comedy universe.
'Vampires of Vijay Nagar' team includes 'Munjya' crew
For Vampires of Vijay Nagar, Sarpotdar has brought on board several crew members from his previous film, Munjya. The team includes production designers Subrata Chakraborty and Amit Ray, director of photography Saurabh Goswami, costume designer Sheetal Sharma, and writer Niren Bhatt. "Having written Bhediya [2022], Munjya and Stree 2, Niren knows exactly how to connect each story and has written a convincing backstory for Vampires of Vijay Nagar," the source added.
