He admitted, "It is very difficult to deal with fame when you are 16, 17, and in your teens." The actor also revealed that his newfound popularity led him to break up with his now-wife Kashyap as he was attracting attention from other girls.

Khurrana made his Bollywood debut in 2012 with the film Vicky Donor. Not only did he act in the film, but he also lent his voice to one of its popular songs, Paani Da Rang. The movie marked the acting debut of Yami Gautam Dhar as well. Following this successful start, Khurrana was featured in several critically acclaimed films such as Dum Laga Ke Haisha, Shubh Mangal Saavdhan, and Andhadhun.

When asked about her reaction to Khurrana's breakup revelation, Kashyap responded in a previous interview with India Today. She stated, "I was a strong-headed woman. I have always been one. I didn't reach much into what Ayushmann said. However, I must add that this is why we have lasted for so long. We both respect each other's individuality." The couple got married in 2008, and have a son named Virajveer and a daughter named Varushka.
