China: The Ayushmann-Tabu starrer became third highest-grossing Indian film
Interestingly, this isn't the first international release for the thriller. The movie was also released in China this year as The Piano Player, and it received a thunderous response from audiences. Released over 5,000 screens, Andhadhun became the third highest-grossing Indian film in China, and raked in over Rs. 300 crore, which was way more than its lifetime collection in India (Rs. 95.63 crore).
"Delighted to contribute in this huge cinematic moment for India"
Delighted by the massive response, Ayushmann had stated, "It feels great to be appreciated for your hard work not just in India but also in China. Andhadhun is making India proud and I'm delighted to contribute in this huge cinematic moment for India."
For now, he's gearing up for Ekta Kapoor's 'Dream Girl'
Meanwhile, Ayushmann is now gearing up for his second release of the year, Dream Girl. The actor, who was last seen in Article 15, plays the role of a small-town guy whose ability to speak in a female voice leads to hilarious situations. Apparently, he has dubbed 25% of the dialogs in a woman's voice. The film will be released on September 13, 2019.
Ayushmann is also working on 'Shubh Mangal Saavdhaan' sequel
On the other hand, Ayushmann will also be seen in an upcoming sequel to his 2017 release, Shubh Mangal Saavdhan. Titled as Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan, the movie will be a gay comedy and will be helmed by Aanand L. Rai. Besides, there are reports about a sequel to his 2018 release Badhaai Ho, which also features Neena Gupta, Gajraj Rao and Sanya Malhotra.
