Why Ayushmann has quit Meghna Gulzar-Kareena's upcoming drama
Ayushmann Khurrana, who was initially set to star with Kareena Kapoor Khan in a powerful drama by filmmaker Meghna Gulzar, has withdrawn from the project due to scheduling conflicts, reported Mid-Day. The film, reportedly named Daayra, is based on the 2019 Hyderabad rape and murder case. Had Khurrana starred in this film, it would have marked his first association with both Kapoor Khan and Gulzar.
Khurrana's busy schedule leads to project exit
Khurrana's commitments to two major projects this year have made it impossible for him to fit Gulzar's film into his schedule. Sources indicate that the Raazi director intends to start her project by year-end, a timeline that conflicts with Khurrana's plans. Additionally, Khurrana has a music tour scheduled in November, which includes "multiple performances across major US cities," according to an insider.
Gulzar will now look for a replacement
Apart from his music tour, Khurrana has also committed to two films: one with Karan Johar and Guneet Monga Kapoor, and another with Maddock Films. He may also join Sunny Deol in Border 2. The dates for these projects are currently under negotiation. The production team has been informed of his decision and Gulzar is now reportedly looking for a suitable replacement for the lead role.
