Has Ayushmann Khurrana exited Luv Ranjan's Sourav Ganguly-biopic
Ayushmann Khurrana has reportedly withdrawn from the much-anticipated Sourav Ganguly biopic, following his reported exit from Sunny Deol's high-profile film Border 2. Khurrana had been in discussions with director Luv Ranjan since 2021 and was slated to play the iconic Indian cricketer on screen. However, due to scheduling conflicts and concerns about the oversaturation of biopics in Bollywood, Khurrana has reportedly decided to step back from the project, reported Bollywood Hungama.
Khurrana's next projects belong to different genres
Ranjan and his team were in the process of finalizing the script for the Ganguly biopic when Khurrana allegedly announced his decision. The actor reportedly cited scheduling conflicts as one reason for his exit and also expressed concerns about the "overdose" of biopics in Bollywood. Following his rumored exit, Khurrana is now concentrating on Thamma with Dinesh Vijan. After this, he will be seen in a spy comedy produced by Dharma Productions.
Ranjan confident of finding a suitable replacement
A source close to the project stated, "Playing Sourav Ganguly on the big screen is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for actors and Luv is sure to get a top actor to play the leading man." Meanwhile, another source refuted claims of Khurrana's exit from the project, stating that he hasn't even heard the film's narration yet. Moreover, a Zoom report has suggested that Bengali superstar Prosenjit Chatterjee may play the lead role. An official update is awaited.
