Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor starrer 'Brahmastra' postponed. Here's why
Fans of Bollywood's new favorite couple Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt are going to be disappointed to hear that their upcoming fantasy film Brahmastra has now been postponed. Earlier, the film was supposed to release in December this year. However, writer and director Ayan Mukerji announced the delay in the film's release on Saturday. Read on to find out more details.
Mukerji cited technical issues as a reason for the delay
In an Instagram post, Mukerji announced that his next project Brahmastra will be released in summer 2020 instead of December 2019. "Brahmastra is a dream that began for me in 2011, and I've been actively pursuing it since Yeh Jawaani Hai released in 2013," Mukerji wrote, adding that the delay is because it would take longer to get the VFX, sound, and music right.
Extra time essential to achieve 'Brahmastra' dream: Mukerji
"I believe that the extra time going into making the movie is essential to achieve the dream of Brahmastra, and I really hope that we make up for the delay by giving our movie-loving country something they can really love and feel proud of."
Mukerji doesn't wish to compromise on the movie's experience
The film also stars Amitabh Bachchan and Mouni Roy
Produced by Karan Johar, Brahmastra is said to be the first installment in a planned trilogy, starring Bhatt, Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan, and Mouni Roy in lead roles. Roy will be seen in a negative role in the film and Telugu star Nagarjuna also plays an undisclosed character. Brahmastra has been filmed in Bulgaria, New York, and Mumbai, among other locations.
