Sean Combs rushed to hospital from detention center late-night: Report
What's the story
Sean 'Diddy' Combs, the 55-year-old music mogul currently embroiled in a sex trafficking trial, was quietly moved from the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn to Brooklyn Hospital Center late Thursday night, Page Six reported.
Combs was rushed to the hospital for an MRI after suffering from a chronic knee problem, multiple sources confirmed.
The Last Night rapper's history of knee problems is well-known—especially after he ran the New York marathon.
Medical examination
Combs didn't spend the night at the hospital
Despite rumors of a prison fight or some other emergency, it was clarified that this was not the case.
The transfer was conducted after dark to prevent drawing attention from other inmates or prison staff. Law enforcement was notified of Combs's hospital visit in advance to avoid chaos if the news leaked.
Notably, Combs didn't spend the night at the hospital and returned to his cell within hours.
Legal woes
Combs's ongoing legal battle and health concerns
Combs is facing several charges including federal sex trafficking, racketeering, and transportation to engage in prostitution.
He has pleaded not guilty and denied any wrongdoing, but has been denied bail thrice. His trial is scheduled to begin on May 5.
Reportedly, his time in prison is beginning to take a toll on his physical health.
One reporter noted Combs looked "astonishingly thinner" and grayer after a hearing last December.
Denied request
Combs's previous request for prison hospital transfer denied
This isn't the first time Combs has asked for medical attention in custody.
Over Christmas, he had asked to be transferred to a prison hospital, saying he felt on the verge of a breakdown. However, his request was reportedly denied by the guards.
Meanwhile, contrary to reports, an insider told Page Six that Combs remains "fit, healthy, and fully focused on his defense," adding that he has been very active and continues to work out regularly.
