'Avengers: Endgame' collects record-breaking Rs. 186.45 crore on opening weekend

'Endgame' surpassed opening day collection of 'Thugs of Hindostan'
According to a Deadline report, the film raked in $26.7mn (Rs. 186.45cr) in India, becoming the biggest ever grosser for any Hollywood film. The film released in 2,845 screens and on its opening day, it collected Rs. 53cr, followed by Rs. 51cr on Saturday. Endgame even managed to surpass the opening day business of Thugs of Hindostan (Rs. 52.25cr), the biggest opener among Hindi films.

'Endgame' first film to cross $1 billion mark on debut
Endgame is also breaking records globally, opening at $1.209bn (Rs. 8,440cr). It is the only film to cross the billion mark on its debut. The previous record was held by Infinity War, which opened at $640 million. Endgame also made history in France, China, Brazil, South Africa, Egypt, and 38 other markets. It's expected to give a tough competition to Avatar's global collection ($2.79bn).
BookMyShow was selling 18 'Endgame' tickets per second
Ticket sales for Endgame witnessed an unprecedented madness as tickets started being sold out shortly after they went online. Reportedly, BookMyShow was selling 18 tickets per second. Most screenings were house-full on its opening weekend. Endgame was screened 24x7 in India, despite Indian laws prohibiting the screening of any film past midnight. Needless to say, the film is proving to be a phenomenon.
