'Avatar: Seven Havens': All about new Nickelodeon series in Avatarverse
What's the story
Nickelodeon has greenlit Avatar: Seven Havens, a new 26-episode animated series that expands the lore of Avatar: The Last Airbender.
The show is being developed by Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko—the original creators of the series—under their newly formed Avatar Studios.
Set in a post-apocalyptic world, the narrative follows a young Earthbender who discovers she's the new Avatar after Korra. However, in this perilous era, her title signifies destruction rather than salvation.
Plot details
'Avatar: Seven Havens' will explore new territories
In Avatar: Seven Havens, the new Avatar and her long-lost twin are pursued by both human and spirit foes. They must unravel their enigmatic origins and rescue the Seven Havens before civilization's final bastions crumble.
Ramsey Naito, President of Paramount Animation and Nickelodeon Animation, expressed his excitement about this next chapter in the Avatar saga, stating that it would introduce audiences to a world full of "compelling characters" and "groundbreaking storylines."
Production insights
This marks the third animated series in the franchise
Avatar: The Last Airbender (2005) ran for three seasons on Nickelodeon, followed by the sequel The Legend of Korra.
Both series were created by DiMartino and Konietzko. Despite being initially attached to Netflix's live-action adaptation (which premiered in 2024), they exited in 2020 over creative differences.
They returned to Nickelodeon to head Avatar Studios as co-chief creative officers and expand the Avatarverse across film and TV platforms.
