Will Allu Arjun replace Salman in Atlee's big-budget film
What's the story
Director Atlee's upcoming mega-budget action drama is said to be in financial trouble as its budget continues to rise.
Originally pegged at a reported ₹300 crore, the film now needs at least ₹400 crore to be completed, reported PeepingMoon.
According to a source, producers are hesitant to pump in such a huge amount into a Salman Khan-led movie considering his recent box office underperformance.
Now, Atlee is considering returning to his original choice, Allu Arjun.
Funding discussions
Atlee in talks with Jio Studios and Sun Pictures
Reportedly, Atlee is also in talks with Jio Studios for financial backing, but nothing concrete has been achieved so far.
Sun Pictures has also made it clear that they are not interested in funding the project if Khan remains the lead.
Given these challenges, Atlee has returned to Arjun, his original choice for the film.
The Pushpa 2 star is reportedly eager to work with Atlee and they are scheduled to meet for a script narration soon.
Film details
Atlee's film is a reincarnation-themed action drama
Despite the financial hurdles, both Khan and Atlee remain committed to the project. However, if budgetary issues persist, Atlee may proceed with Arjun instead.
Atlee's next directorial venture, dubbed #A6, is a mega-budget two-hero reincarnation-themed action drama.
Earlier, there were rumors of Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan being eyed for parallel lead roles with Khan, but that didn't go anywhere.
The script of this period saga is said to be Atlee's most ambitious work yet.
