Ex-BB contestant Armaan Kohli released on bail after 24 hours
After being booked in an assault case, former Bigg Boss contestant Armaan Kohli was back in the headlines for yet another brush with the law. The actor was arrested by the police for allegedly possessing 41 bottles of liquor illegally, most of which were purchased from abroad. However, he was released on bail after spending a night in police detention.
Police interrogates Armaan
According to a report published in Times Of India, Armaan was interrogated till late night by Bandra Excise Department. Meanwhile, police also tried to ascertain the cost of each bottle found in his stock. "Armaan was allowed to go but only after he shelled out Rs. 20,000 for his bail. We had kept him with us throughout the night," a police official told Spotboye.
What does the law say?
"He has done something illegal for which he needs to be punished. We found exactly 41 bottles of Scotch in his house after we raided," the official added. As per law, no one is allowed to have more than 12 units of hard liquor in possession for more than a month. Besides, law also forbids bringing more than one bottle of liquor from abroad.
Armaan might get imprisoned for 3 years
Although Armaan is out on bail, he will have to prove himself innocent in order to avoid getting punished by the law. Notably, as per section 63(E) of Bombay Liquor Prohibition Act, 1949, if found guilty, Armaan might be imprisoned for three years along with a heavy fine. Notably, this isn't the actor's first brush with the law.
Earlier, Armaan was booked for assaulting a fashion designer
To recall, Armaan was booked for allegedly assaulting fashion designer Nadia Aheli earlier this month. Nadia alleged that Armaan along with his friend assaulted and threatened her after she asked them to return her Rs. 50 lakh. She even claimed that Armaan made some unreasonable demands after which she had filed an FIR against him. Meanwhile, the actor claimed to be innocent.
