AR Rahman wins Hollywood Music in Media Award for 'Aadujeevitham'
Acclaimed Indian composer AR Rahman has bagged the Best Background Score (Foreign Language) at the 2024 Hollywood Music In Media Awards (HMMA) for his work in Blessy's Malayalam film Aadujeevitham - The Goat Life. The film, which stars Prithviraj Sukumaran in the lead, announced the news on its official Instagram account. "We are thrilled to share that Aadujeevitham - The Goatlife has won," read a post from the team.
'This project was a labor of love': Rahman
In a video message, Rahman thanked the HMMA, saying, "It's an incredible honor to receive this award for Best Score for a foreign language film, The Goat Life." He also thanked his team of musicians and technicians, director Blessy, and everyone who supported their vision. "This project was a labor of love," he added. The Aadujeevitham team also posted a video of director Blessy receiving the award. "A special moment...as we had the honor of receiving this recognition on stage."

Aadujeevitham is a Malayalam film based on the critically acclaimed novel by Benyamin. It tells the gripping story of a young man named Najib (Sukumaran) who is forced into slave labor in Saudi Arabia, where he is tasked with herding goats in the desert. Amidst the harsh conditions, Najib forms an unexpected bond with the goats, which becomes his only source of comfort and survival. The film is available to stream on Netflix.

Meanwhile, the award comes at a time when Rahman is facing a personal upheaval. Just a day before the win, he and his wife Saira Banu announced their separation after nearly three decades of marriage. In a heartfelt note, Rahman wrote, "We had hoped to reach the grand 30, but all things, it seems, carry an unseen end." Their children also requested privacy during this time.
