'Masakali 2.0': Reminding of efforts, Rahman gracefully slams new version
Tanishk Bagchi has done it again! Once again, the music producer/composer took a beloved Bollywood classic, molded and remixed it, and ruined it for all of us. That's perhaps his mojo. But this time, Bagchi went a bit too far, as he picked AR Rahman's all-time classic Delhi-6 melody Masakali as his latest kill. Now, of-course, fans are angry and so is Rahman!
New music video features Sidharth Malhotra, Tara Sutaria
In case you have been lucky enough to avoid the horrendous reboot, we will run you through. The music video, released by T-Series (why, though?), features Marjaavaan co-stars Sidharth Malhotra and Tara Sutaria, who break into a lavish hotel and start dancing to Masakali (2.0) for some reason. Bagchi has composed it. And, Tulsi Kumar and Sachet Tandon have lent their voices.
In rare outburst, Rahman urged fans to 'enjoy the original'
The song, that released on Wednesday, has already been declared as one of the worst remixes by fans. In a rare outburst, Rahman also shared a tweet, thereby slamming Bagchi's song. Without even mentioning the new release (and why should he?), Rahman urged fans to "enjoy the original." He wrote how the original was created with much love, passion, and hard work.
The original took 365 days of creative brainstorming: Rahman
Talking about the original Masakali, Rahman wrote, "No short cuts, properly commissioned, sleepless nights, writes and re-writes." He added, "Over 200 musicians, 365 days of creative brainstorming with the aim to produce music that can last generations. A team of a Director, a Composer and a Lyricist supported by actors, dance directors and a relentless film crew (sic)."

The re-mix will damage your eardrums: Director Rakeysh Mehra
But it is not only Rahman who is displeased with the reboot. Delhi-6 director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra re-tweeted Rahman's status and wrote, "Beware of the re- mix it will damage your eardrums. (sic)" Meanwhile, Prasoon Joshi, who penned the original Masakali, tweeted, "Sad to see when original creation (is) insensitively utilized... Hopefully the fans will stand for originality. (sic)"
The original 'Masakali' was filmed on Abhishek and Sonam
For the unversed, the original Masakali song was picturized on Abhishek Bachchan and Sonam Kapoor, in the backdrop of old Delhi. The song is much loved for Rahman's soul-soothing music, catchy lyrics, and the whole old Delhi vibe that it brings out.
