Apple TV+ renews Colin Farrell's 'Sugar' for Season 2
Apple TV+ has given the green light for a second season of its hit drama series, Sugar. The show stars Hollywood actor Colin Farrell as Detective John Sugar. The first season, which kicked off in April and wrapped up on May 17 with eight episodes, followed Detective Sugar as he delved into a woman's disappearance, serving up a major plot twist right at the end.

Executive producers Audrey Chon and Simon Kinberg shared their excitement over the renewal, saying, "It has been incredibly exciting to see audiences around the world embrace Sugar, and we are thrilled to return for a second season." They also expressed gratitude to Apple for its support, showrunner Sam Catlin, Farrell, and the viewers. Matt Cherniss, head of programming for Apple TV+, praised Farrell's performance and the series' ability to keep viewers hooked with its mysteries.
Season 2 will see Detective Sugar back in LA
In the upcoming season, Detective Sugar is back in Los Angeles, diving into another missing-person case while still on the hunt for clues about his own missing sister. The first season followed Farrell's character, a private investigator hired by Hollywood mogul Jonathan Siegel (James Cromwell), to track down his missing granddaughter, Olivia (Sydney Chandler). Eventually, the big twist was revealed: Detective Sugar is actually an alien!
'Sugar' Season 1 cast and production team details
The first season of Sugar also starred Amy Ryan, Anna Gunn, Dennis Boutsikaris, Nate Corddry, and Alex Hernandez in key roles. It is yet to be revealed if they will return for the upcoming season. Mark Protosevich created the series, and for the upcoming season, Catlin will serve as showrunner and executive producer through his Short Drive Entertainment.
