Special reason why Anushka-Virat cook for their kids
Bollywood actor Anushka Sharma and her cricketer husband Virat Kohli have a unique cooking ritual for their children. The couple, who are parents to daughter Vamika and son Akaay, often prepare meals that replicate the dishes made by their own mothers, revealed Sharma at an event in Mumbai. She explained, "We had this discussion at home that if we don't make the food our moms made at home, then we won't be passing these recipes on to our kids."
'I cheat a little by calling my mom...'
Sharma further added, "So, sometimes I cook, and sometimes my husband cooks, and we really try to replicate the way our mothers did. I cheat a little by calling my mom to ask for recipes, but it's so important. It's like you're passing on something valuable to your children." The actor emphasized the importance of this cooking ritual in preserving family recipes and passing them on to their children.
Sharma also stressed on maintaining a routine for children
In addition to the cooking ritual, Sharma also highlighted the significance of maintaining a consistent routine for their children. Despite frequent travels, she ensures that meal times and sleep schedules remain fixed. "I am very particular about routine... So, by creating a routine for them, I am giving them a sense of control," she said. "Meal times are fixed, no matter where we are, we eat at the same time and sleep at the same time."
'We are not perfect parents'
She further said, "There is so much pressure to be [a] perfect parent. We are not perfect parents, we will complain about things, and it is okay to admit it to them also." "So they know that you are flawed. Imagine kids having to live up to, 'Oh my parents are like this'. So owning your mistakes makes (it easier)." She added, "Living by example is the only way to make sure they soak the good things from the environment."
Meanwhile, take a look at the couple's parenting journey
Sharma and Kohli got married in 2017 and welcomed their first child, daughter Vamika, in 2021. They expanded their family with the arrival of son Akaay earlier this year in February. The couple has been largely spending time in London since Akaay's birth. On the work front, Sharma is gearing up for her comeback with Chakda Xpress. The film is based on the life of Indian cricketer Jhulan Goswami.
