Anushka Sharma features on Fortune India's 'Most Powerful Women' list
Bollywood actor Anushka Sharma has made it to Fortune India's top 50 list of Most Powerful Women of 2019. The 31-year-old actor has been mentioned on the list for her work in the film industry as an actor, as a producer under the label of her production house Clean Slate Films and as a remarkable brand ambassador. Fortune India acknowledges Sharma's small-budget blockbusters
Noting her accomplishments, Fortune India wrote, "Sharma isn't only the face of her clothing line Nush and several other brands such as Nivea, Elle 18, Myntra and Lavie, but also a producer." The magazine also mentions production house Clean Slate Films, which Sharma established at age 25. Clean Slate Films produced three small-budget films- NH10, Phillauri, and Pari- each collecting around Rs. 40 crore.
Clean Slate Films' collaboration with Netflix, Amazon also recognized
Fortune India further stated, "Moving beyond Bollywood, Clean Slate Films has tied up with Netflix to produce a feature film titled Bulbul and a web series called Mai. It is also developing and producing a web series for Amazon Prime Video."
Fortune India's list includes businesswomen of great sociocultural influence
Notably, Fortune India's 'Most Powerful Women' ranking focuses on women who create an impact through their business acumen and social and cultural influence. The list also features the likes of Zia Mody, the founder and managing partner of India's leading law firm AZB & Partners, Biocon chairperson Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, Suneeta Reddy, Managing director of Apollo Hospitals Enterprise, etc. Sharma is 39th on the list.
Ekta Kapoor takes 22nd spot on the Fortune India's list
The 2019 'Most Powerful Women' list also features another notable figure from the entertainment industry, Ekta Kapoor. The 44-year-old made it to the list for successfully launching her web streaming platforms ALTBalaji and giving tough competition to Hotstar, Amazon Prime, Netflix, et al.
'Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi' was Sharma's debut Bollywood role
Coming to Sharma, she debuted in Bollywood with the Yash Raj Films' Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi in 2008, where she starred alongside Shah Rukh Khan. Ever since, she has been seen in several popular films such as Jab Tak Hai Jaan (2012), PK (2014), Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (2016), etc. She was last seen in Anand L. Rai's Zero last year.
