Anurag Basu's next stars Abhishek Bachchan, Rajkummar Rao
Anurag Basu is working on a multi-starrer dark comic anthology and the yet-to-be-titled film will hit the screens on September 6. Akin to Basu's hit 2007 directorial Life In A... Metro, which earned Rs. 15 crore at the box office, this slice-of-life film will have intersecting stories at its core. According to the makers, the cast includes Abhishek Bachchan and Rajkummar Rao. Here's more.
Film to be produced by Bhushan Kumar of T-Series
The film will be produced by Bhushan Kumar, who is the chairman of T-Series. "It is my pleasure to be working with Bhushan Kumar for my next that is a dark comic anthology. It's our first collaboration but doesn't seem like one," said Basu.
Film to reunite 'Dangal' actors Sanya Malhotra, Fatima Sana Shaikh
Expressing his pleasure over the casting, Basu said, "I am extremely happy to have found this talented new generation cast, though I will trust my old friend Pritam for music as always." According to the makers, apart from Bachchan, Rao, the others who have already been signed on for the project include Fatima Sana Shaikh, Aditya Roy Kapur, Sanya Malhotra, and Pankaj Tripathi.
Details about the actors' roles still under wraps
The director has already shot major sequences with Bachchan in Mumbai and Kolkata last year. He was seen shooting with Rao and Shaikh in Bhopal recently. However, it hasn't been revealed what roles these actors will play in the dark comedy film. It is being said that a few more names are set to join the list of the ensemble cast.
Story is compelling yet the treatment is so amusing: Bhushan
Kumar, who will produce the film, said he is looking forward to his first collaboration with the director. "The characters, the story is so compelling yet the treatment is so amusing. We have tried to bring on board a terrific cast who perfectly fit the roles that are written," he said. The producer said he is even planning to do another project with Basu.
Basu's film set for box office clash with 'Good News'
"The way the script and shooting is in process, Anurag and I are planning on doing another project. I'm keen on doing more films with Anurag and his team," the producer said.
