Anubhav Sinha hints at possible superhero film
Acclaimed director Anubhav Sinha, who recently debuted in the OTT space with the web series IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack on Netflix, has hinted at a potential return to the superhero genre. In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, he expressed his desire to create music and incorporate visual effects and action sequences into his upcoming projects. "I am making a film, and I am on my way to making some bigger films," he said.
Sinha's yearning for music and action in films
Sinha expressed a longing to incorporate music into his films, something he hasn't done in six to seven years. He reminisced about the visual effects and action sequences from his earlier works like Dus and Ra.One. "I love making songs, visual effects, action, etc. like I did in Dus and Ra.One," he said, adding, "In fact, a lot of people have forgotten that I used to make films like Dus and Ra.One!"
'I've seen 'Ra.One' as a flop then as a hit...'
Sinha reflected on the changing public perception of his superhero film Ra.One, stating, "In my lifetime, I have seen Ra.One as a flop and then as a hit film!" He also expressed his desire to create another iconic song like Chammak Challo from Ra.One. The director further revealed his plans for a big action sequence and car chase in his upcoming project, hinting that it might be another superhero flick.
Sinha's career evolution and potential '3.0' phase
Sinha's directorial journey began with the musical hit Tum Bin in 2001, followed by action films like Dus (2005) and Cash (2007). His first foray into the superhero genre was with Ra.One in 2011. He then shifted gears to create critically acclaimed films such as Mulk (2018), Article 15 (2019), and Thappad (2020). This new phase was dubbed his "2.0 version" by media and peers alike.
Sinha's focus on enjoying the filmmaking process
When asked if his upcoming project signifies the advent of "Anubhav Sinha 3.0," he responded, "That's not important. I should be having fun making the film. That's what matters." This statement underscores Sinha's focus on enjoying the filmmaking process rather than adhering to specific phases or labels in his career. Fans eagerly await further announcements about this potential new superhero flick from Sinha.
