Anne Hathaway reveals her strategies for crafting genuine romantic scenes
Hollywood actor Anne Hathaway recently revealed her strategies for crafting genuine romantic scenes during a conversation with India Today. Discussing her latest romantic comedy, The Idea of You, she emphasized the importance of openness and forming connections with co-stars in such sequences. Reflecting on her work with Nicholas Galitzine, she said, "I think it's just about trying to connect and be vulnerable with each other."
Hathaway praised Galitzine for creating a comfortable environment on set
Discussing her strategy, Hathaway said, "It's hard to force vulnerability, but like the way we did it, we were lucky." Praising Galitzine, she added, "Nick was amazing because, once he was cast, he was really proactive about, 'Can I text you?' He just showed up with some icebreaker questions." These conversations—about each other's interests and preferences—helped the actors break the ice.
'Care and curiosity' also helped the leads
The Oscar awardee further said, "And then, showing each other care and curiosity [helped us]. I think that kind of let each of us know who the other person was and who we were dealing with. That helped in opening up, as much as knowing that Nick's last meal involves octopus." In The Idea of You, Hathaway plays a 40-year-old single mom, while Galitzine essays a 24-year-old singer. It will land on Amazon Prime Video on May 2.
Hathaway has received praise for her roles in several films
Hathaway, who first gained fame with The Princess Diaries, has received praise for her roles in films like Brokeback Mountain, The Devil Wears Prada, and Interstellar. Her performance in Les Misérables won her an Academy Award for Best Supporting Female Actor in 2013. Following The Idea of You, she is set to star in David Robert Mitchell's upcoming sci-fi film alongside Ewan McGregor, Maisy Stella, and Christian Convery, as well as David Lowery's anticipated epic drama Mother Mary.
