'Fake heiress' Anna Delvey joins 'Dancing With The Stars'
Anna Delvey, the notorious con artist who reportedly swindled New York's elite out of over $250,000 by pretending to be a German heiress, is set to join the 33rd season of Dancing With The Stars. This unexpected career move is the latest development in Delvey's life, which was previously explored in the Netflix series Inventing Anna.
Delvey's criminal past and house arrest conditions
Delvey was found guilty on eight counts, including second-degree grand larceny, theft of services, and first-degree attempted grand larceny. She was released in 2021, but has been under house arrest since 2022 while awaiting a decision on her immigration status. She faced possible deportation in 2022 for overstaying her visa. However, her house arrest conditions have recently been relaxed, allowing her to work and travel within a 70-mile radius of her home.
Delvey's participation in reality show and public image
Delvey's involvement in the reality show has significantly altered her public image. Although she is not the first contestant with a criminal record, she is the first to gain notoriety solely through illegal activities. Despite her ongoing house arrest restrictions, she appears to have been granted special permission to travel to Los Angeles, where the long-running ABC competition is filmed, reported Hollywood media.
Delvey's other projects and future plans
Delvey has been involved in other projects. She recently co-founded the OutLaw Agency, a fashion public relations firm, with veteran fashion publicist Kelly Cutrone. Her agency will make its debut at Fashion Week, marking her first major public appearance as a (somewhat) free individual. Delvey is also working on a docuseries detailing her life after the Inventing Anna story, launching a celebrity dinner club series, hosting a weekly podcast, and dropping new songs.
