Anil Kapoor to clash with Ajay Devgn in 'DDPD 2'
The successful trio of Ajay Devgn, Luv Ranjan, and Bhushan Kumar are reuniting for their next project, the sequel to the hit 2019 film De De Pyaar De. Now, in a significant casting update for De De Pyaar De 2, Pinkvila has reported that Anil Kapoor has been signed on for a crucial role. The production is set to commence in London in June under the direction of Anshul Sharma.
'It was an instant yes from Kapoor': Sources
The sources close to the development told the portal, "Anil was bowled over by the concept of DDPD 2, and it was an instant yes from him." "The humor quotient in De De Pyaar De 2 is said to be a level above the prequel, with an interesting dynamic between Ajay Devgn and Anil Kapoor." If the rumors are true, this collaboration will mark a Devgn-Kapoor reunion after their stint together in the 2019 comedy adventure Total Dhamaal.
Kapoor may portray Rakul Preet Singh's father's role
The source further revealed that the conflict between Kapoor's character and Devgn is a standout feature of De De Pyaar De 2. "It's a dynamic that got both excited as they have never shared an on-screen equation like this before. The sequel follows Ajay and Rakul's comedic escapades as they strive to win over Rakul's family." There's a buzz going around that Kapoor may take on the role of Rakul Preet Singh's character's father in the sequel.
'DDPD 2' is slated for May 1, 2025 release
The upcoming movie will continue the narrative from where its predecessor concluded. This time, the spotlight will be on Ayesha Khurana's (Rakul Preet Singh) family as they react to her relationship with a man twice her age. The film's script is penned by Tarun Jain and Ranjan. It is slated to hit theaters on May 1, 2025. Meanwhile, you can rewatch the first part on Disney+ Hotstar.
