'Angrezi Medium' and 'Gunjan Saxena' get new release dates
Filmmaker Karan Johar and producer Dinesh Vijan have mutually decided to shift the release dates of their films, Angrezi Medium, Gunjan Saxena, and Roohi Afzana, to avoid a potential box-office clash. Irrfan-starrer Angrezi Medium will now release a week before, on March 13, while the release date of Johar's Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl, has been postponed to April 24. Here are more details.
And, 'Roohi Afzana' will now release on June 5
Earlier, Gunjan Saxena was planned to be released on March 13, the date now taken by Angrezi Medium. On the other hand, April 24 was previously the release date for Dinesh's Roohi Afzana, which will now hit the theaters on June 5. The news was announced by Johar on Twitter. He wrote, "Dinoo [Dinesh] and I have have made an exchange of dates."

'Angrezi Medium' a spin-off to 2017 hit film 'Hindi Medium'
Notably, the trailer of Angrezi Medium was dropped a few days back. A spin-off to the 2017 hit comedy-drama Hindi Medium, the movie showcases the story of a middle-aged, Rajasthan-based man (Irrfan), who gives his all to make his daughter's (Radhika Madan) dream of studying abroad, come true. Directed by Homi Adajania, it also stars Kareena Kapoor, Deepak Dobriyal, Ranvir Shorey and Pankaj Tripathi.
Irrfan wouldn't be promoting 'Angrezi Medium' due to health issues
A day before the trailer release, Irrfan, in a video message, revealed that he won't be promoting Angrezi Medium, due to his health issues. "I genuinely wanted to promote this film...But I'm struggling with my health. Enjoy the trailer, be kind to each other and watch the film. And yes, wait for me," the actor, who was diagnosed with neuroendocrine tumor in 2018, said.
Separately, 'Gunjan Saxena' stars Janhvi as an IAF pilot
Separately, Dharma Productions' Gunjan Saxena will see Janhvi Kapoor essaying the role of India's first woman Air Force pilot in combat. The movie also stars Pankaj Tripathi and Angad Bedi in supporting roles. On the other hand, Roohi Afzana, also starring Janhvi, is a horror comedy movie directed by Hardik Mehta. Rajkummar Rao and Varun Sharma (Fukrey) will also be seen in pivotal roles.
