'Call Me Bae': Ananya recreates Sid-Kiara wedding—netizens say, 'ruined it'
What's the story
Ananya Panday's new series, Call Me Bae, has drawn attention for its parody/recreation of Kiara Advani and Sidharth Malhotra's wedding.
The first episode features a grand wedding scene between Panday's character Bella Chowdhary (Bae) and her husband Agastya (Aggie), played by Vihaan Samat.
This sequence mirrors the real-life wedding video of Advani and Malhotra, which took place in 2023 in Rajasthan and quickly went viral.
Now, the internet is unimpressed with Panday.
Scene details
'Call Me Bae' recreated iconic moments from Advani-Malhotra's wedding
In the parody sequence, Panday and Samat mimic gestures from Advani's bridal entry video.
They also wear similar bridal outfits and conclude the scene with a namaste at the mandap, echoing the first official photo from Advani and Malhotra's wedding.
Reacting, an X user wrote, "Ananya successfully ruined it. Ik Sid- Kiara must be pissed off & rightly so," while another added, "Remaking someone's special moment is not cool."
Additional reference
'Call Me Bae' also referenced Kaif-Kaushal's wedding
The sequence in Call Me Bae also made a reference to another high-profile Bollywood wedding—that of Katrina Kaif and Vicky Kaushal.
After the on-screen wedding, as Panday and Samat's characters enjoy fireworks, Panday's voiceover humorously remarks, "Those aren't fireworks. Those are just drones getting shot down."
This line alludes to rumors that circulated during Kaif and Kaushal's 2021 wedding about drones being shot down to ensure privacy.
