'Thalaivar 170': Amitabh Bachchan-Rajinikanth reunite in brand new photo
Remember the brotherhood that Amitabh Bachchan and Rajinikanth displayed in 1991's iconic movie Hum? If you've missed watching them together, then it's time for celebration. Rajinikanth himself revealed on Wednesday that the two legendary actors of Indian cinema are ready to reunite after 33 long years, and it isn't for an advertisement commercial but a movie. They'll soon be starring in Thalaivar 170.

Bachchan and Rajinikanth have enmassed a huge fan following across the country. The two leading stars of India have always spoken highly of each other. Though the two haven't acted in many films together, they never missed an opportunity to praise one other, and also share a good friendship. Big B released the Hindi trailer of Rajinikanth's 2014 film Kochadaiiyaan as well.
'My heart is thumping with joy'
Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, Rajinikanth announced that his next feature, Thalaivar 170, will mark his reunion with Bachchan after three decades. In the post, an elated Rajinikanth called Bachchan his mentor, adding how excited he is to work with Big B again. "My heart is thumping with joy!" wrote the Jailer actor while sharing a picture with Bachchan.

Interestingly, director Mukul S Anand's Hum is the only Hindi movie that starred the two actors as co-stars. While Bachchan essayed Shekhar Malhotra/Tiger's role, Rajinikanth played his younger brother, Inspector Kumar. Govinda also played their brother in the film. Apart from Hum, Rajinikanth appeared in a cameo as Bachchan's friend in Geraftaar (1985), while Bachchan played an extended cameo in Rajinikanth's Andhaa Kaanoon (1983).

Written and helmed by TJ Gnanavel, Thalaivar 170 is an upcoming title with Rajinikanth in the lead role. The massive film features an ensemble cast comprising Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Manju Warrier, Ritika Singh, and Dushara Vijayan. Backed by Lyca Productions, the film's music will be composed by Anirudh Ravichander. The film's principal photography began in October.
