Iconic actor Amitabh Bachchan has been admitted to Mumbai's Nanavati Hospital for routine check-up, PTI reported on Friday. The 77-year-old megastar was reportedly hospitalized earlier this week on Tuesday. He is currently under observation, and likely to be discharged soon. Several media reports suggested that Bachchan was taken to the hospital due to liver issues. Here are more details.
1982: 75% of Bachchan's liver was damaged post 'Coolie' accident
For the uninitiated, Bachchan had contracted Hepatitis B infection from a blood donor back in 1982. He was undergoing treatment after he suffered a near-fatal injury from an accident during the shooting of his film Coolie. Subsequently, 75% of his liver was damaged, reducing its functioning to just 25%. Bachchan revealed these facts in an awareness video by UNICEF.

Quite obviously the other half is irrelevant and therefore unseen." Jaya celebrated Karwa Chauth with daughter-in-law Aishwarya, daughter Shweta Bachchan Nanda and actor Sonali Bendre.

Bachchan currently hosting 'KBC'; to appear in 'Brahmastra'
On the work front, Bachchan was last seen in an epic Telugu film Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy. Separately, his last Bollywood movie was Sujoy Ghosh-directorial Badla. He will soon appear in Ayan Mukerji's Brahmastra, also starring Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt. It is slated to release in Summer 2020.
